John P. Clement (1893-1968)was born in Rutland, Vt., the son of Henry W. and Agnes O'Neall Clement. He graduated from Phillips Exeter Academy in 1911, and Yale in 1915. A captain in the American Expeditionary Force, he served in France during World War I. He then became a partner in the Dunster House Bookstore in Cambridge, Mass. until returning to Vermont and becoming involved in the movement to repeal prohibition. He also became a central figure in the Vermont Historical Society, and worked fo...
